Came across this by chance - And now I'm OBSESSED!

This is a beautiful adventure/storytelling game with plenty of playability. Very different from Above and Below, which generally focuses on building a town from the ground up. Near and Far is a competitive "race to the finish line" style of game. In this game, you will gather resources to recruit other travellers and form a party to go adventuring with across the map, hunting for treasure and encountering quests/scenarios along the way. These quests offer more than one choice/outcome to play out, creating a new story each time you play. Resources are also used for crafting, which can be used for an engine building strategy to further aid the actions you take later in the game. One of the best parts of this game are the various game modes ( 'campaign', 'character' and 'arcade' ) available, which allows you to play this game over and over without the quests/scenarios becoming overly repetitive. Campaign mode is the main "base" of the game, where you have one character throughout and creating their own story along the way. Character mode is a very "story heavy" version of the game where the quests actually follow a backstory of the chosen character. Arcade mode is a variation where instead of reading quests from the storybook, you play short scenarios generated from random cards. This mode is perfect if you just want to pick up the game for a quick play.
While it seems like there's a lot of components to learn about the game, it's very easy to pick up and learn quickly. Overall it's a lot of fun to play, and I always look forward to playing it.

Good game but

I enjoyed this game but I went in thinking it would be like above and below - it’s not. There is a story telling element but not as prominent as in above and below. I still recommend this game as the gameplay is fun and the art work is beautiful!
