Phase 10 Card Game: From the makers of UNO comes a rummy-type card game with a challenging and exciting twist.
The object of the game is to be the first player to complete 10 phases ranging from two sets of three, one run of seven, seven cards of one color, and more.
The twist is that each phase to be completed is specific for each hand dealt. Those who complete the phase advance to the next, but those that dont must try again.
I bought a copy of Phase10 during the first lockdown and it didn't receive much attention from the kids. However, I introduced it to a friend of mine, who comes over weekly for some game time, and they have become hooked on it to the point where they have bought their own copy for at home, and we play this game pretty much every single time they come over. What adds to the versatility of this game, is that even though it comes with just one list of ten phases, you aren't bound by this, and thus I have created several alternative phases for us to complete.
I cannot count the number of games of Phase 10 I've played. Equally fun with 2 players or in a small group, this game is really great. Such good value for money, it's a good pickup for any family or casual gamer. Great for trips away, camping or at the bach, or chuck it in the bag for a casual game whenever. You can even pause and continue a game later, just by noting down what Phase players are up to.
Kind of a gin rummy style of play, but the objective changes depending on which Phase you are on. Asymmetric in that any players that complete a Phase in that hand moves on their next one, but any players that did not stay on that Phase objective for the next hand until they do manage to complete it.
Truly a wonderful game.
