Everything a player needs to create heroic characters for the world's greatest roleplaying game.
The Player's Handbook is the essential reference for every Dungeons & Dragons roleplayer. It contains rules for character creation and advancement, backgrounds and skills, exploration and combat, equipment, spells, and much more.
Use this book to create exciting characters from among the most iconic D&D races and classes.
Dungeons & Dragons immerses you in a world of adventure. Explore ancient ruins and deadly dungeons. Battle monsters while searching for legendary treasures. Gain experience and power as you trek across uncharted lands with your companions.
The world needs heroes. Will you answer the call?
If you want to start playing DnD 5E, then this is the starting manual and it is kind of necessary. Existing software options can have errors and most DM's will give priority to this book.
The book itself is really well presented and there is a lot of colour and engaging illustrations. While some DnD books can be loaded with a lot of fluff, the Player's Handbook keeps that to a minimum with admiral self-discipline.
The rules themselves are fairly accessible, though some aspects and classes of character can have a lot to get your head around. However, with some patience and repeat play, you should be able to quickly get used to a specific character type before your first TPK.
It is a great edition of the game and one that combines the play-ability of previous editions and dumps a lot of the idiotic rules. Rather it allows the DM's a much greater role in what happens and how adventures unfold. I really enjoy this game.
