THIS BOX, UNLIKE 99.99% OF BOXES, ACTUALLY MEOWS!
Exploding Kittens is a kitty-powered version of Russian Roulette. Players take turns drawing cards until someone draws an exploding kitten and loses the game. The deck is made up of cards that let you avoid exploding by peeking at cards before you draw, forcing your opponent to draw multiple cards, or shuffling the deck.
The game gets more and more intense with each card you draw because fewer cards left in the deck means a greater chance of drawing the kitten and exploding in a fiery ball of feline hyperbole
I had seen "Exploding Kittens" a lot in different places. I had heard some of the hype too. I have to admit being just a little underwhelmed by the game. I like the concept and really wanted to love it, but I just didn't. It is a fine game, but not one that caught my heart.
The game play is smooth and easy to pick up once you get a handle on the different cards and what they do. Once you get the rules sorted, it is a fast game with plenty of potential for mayhem. The cards a very well designed and artistically fun with their own specific style.
Perhaps what I did not like so much was the limited strategic influence (in my honest opinion) that is brought to bear on the outcome. It was not something that wowed me all that much. I would suggest giving the game a try before you commit to coughing up the cash on this one.
